Pre-Order Checklist – What You Need to Have Ready Before You Order
When ordering your balustrading or frieze kit, please have the following information at hand:
- How wide are your widths between the verandah posts? – it’s important that you measure each width individually, as baluster and frieze kits are manufactured to your precise dimensions. The individual construction of the verandah may have resulted in small variations in the widths between the posts, so double check by measuring each width before you order.
- Have you determined your design pattern? – most baluster and frieze constructions use a pattern such as the below, where the “0” represents and motif slat, and an “I” represents a plain slat:
I I I 0 I I I 0 I I I 0 I I I
While the above is a common pattern, it is by no means the only one you can choose to use! As you can see, deciding your pattern in the above manner will tell you how many motif and plain slats you’ll need for the space you have available. - What slat width do you want? – baluster and frieze slats come in two widths – 90mm or 140mm – with 90mm being by far the most common. As with the above however, what width you choose to go with is entirely up to you and should be considered in your planning.
