Can I order components separately or do they only come in a kit?
Yes you can order all of our component products as individual items if you wish. Just go to the individual product listing, as opposed to the kit listing in our online shop or Request a Quote if you can’t see what you need.
Freight – how long will it take and how much will it cost?
When making an order, it’s important that you take the current state of freight into consideration and know what to expect from both a timeline and cost perspective. Read more about the Current State of Freight
What is your lead time for new orders?
We have a standard 4-week lead-time on new orders. We try to keep some products on hand to minimise lead times where we can but this is not guaranteed. If you have tight timeframes, you can contact us to check whether we have your product in stock before you order.
We’ve found that having a standard lead time gives us the space we need to properly apply our craft. Our products are not mass produced items, but made by hand, using much the same processes employed when the business was founded.
It ensures we maintain our high-quality standards – one of our core values. We’re proud that we build a quality product first and that it doesn’t leave the door unless we would use it ourselves.
Do you provide installation services?
Lyrebird Enterprises do not provide installation services for our products, although we do provide expert advice to you or your installer on how best to build, assemble or install our products. We can also recommend installation portals, where you can locate installers in your area – call us on (03) 9707 4300 or Contact Us with your location and installation needs.
What technical documents do you provide?
For some of our products, a permit may be required by local authorities prior to your building works commencing. In many instances, it’s useful for you or your builder to see how each of the components connect together and what the final structure will look like.
Building regulations can vary from state to state and even council to council. Please check with your local authority as to what is permissible in your area. We do not handle permit submissions on your behalf.
We do provide a range of technical documents for a variety of uses, as outlined below:
Product Type | Technical Document Description | Typical Use |
Carports | Site Specific Certification Our roof trusses are certified by an independent engineer to comply with a number of Australian Standards. | Typically required as part of the permit application process. |
Carports | Construction Drawings Includes a Framing Layout, Section, Elevation and Detail drawings and Assembly Instructions. | Typically required as part of the permit application process. |
Verandahs | Rafter Layout Drawings Includes Perspective, Rafter Layout and Section drawings, using measurements provided by the customer. | Typically used by a builder to understand how the verandah is to be constructed. Not suitable for all permit applications – some authorities require plans be completed by a registered architect. |
Carports and Verandahs | Framing / Rafter Layout A top down view of the project, using measurements provided by you, showing recommended rafter spacing and hip or valley configuration and measurements. | This is typically used by a builder to understand how the verandah is to be constructed. May be suitable for permit applications. |
Custom Work | Design Drawings May include Perspective, Plan, Elevation, Section or Design drawings using measurements provided by the customer. | Typically used to ensure we have understood your requirements correctly before proceeding to production. |

What is LOSP treatment?
Light organic solvent preservative (LOSP) is a waterproof timber treatment that includes pesticides. However it uses a solvent, white spirit, to contain the insecticides and fungicides making it less hazardous than other timber treatments. Most of our products are treated with LOSP to H3 Level (protection for components above the ground).
Do I need to use primer on treated products before painting with acrylic paint?
Yes! Due to the LOSP treatment, an oil-based primer needs to be used before applying acrylic paint or the paint will not adhere well to the timber, impacting the final finish of the products.

Is it best to order from Lyrebird or through my local hardware store?
With retail building stores having moved almost entirely away from holding stock on hand to a made-to-order format, our business has flattened-out considerably. Most of our orders now come direct from our customers, rather than from a store on your behalf.
Ordering from us means you save on extra costs, and gives us the opportunity to share our expertise with you so you can achieve your home improvement plans smoothly. We know our products best, and as the leaders in the industry, can help you get it right from the start.
